Where My Disneyness All Began

My name is Meribeth and I am a Disney freak!  There it is, I said it out loud!  Okay, so everyone I know is already very aware that I am a Disney buff, freak or whatever adjective would best describe someone who is obsessed with all things Disney.  OBSESSED, that's it!  That's the word!  Call it what you will but I love it!  And my friends, I can honestly blame my mother for this one! Picture it, a farm in Tennessee (oh that's where I am from), a beautiful young girl...oops sorry, my inner Golden Girls came out for a second.  But seriously it really does all start with my mom.

My Mom grew up on a farm with plenty of wonderful memories but not a lot of money, so travel was not something that happened very often.  My Mom talks about going to town being a big deal, a single Hershey bar being a memorable treat from a favorite aunt, and so many things that we all would take for granted these days.  They lived with her grandparents for a while and they had a TV set where she saw the Mickey Mouse Club (at one point I even knew all of the songs for each day of the week) and on the rare occasions that she was sick or some other reason prevented her family from going to church on Sunday night she got to watch her most favorite show "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color".  She talks about loving seeing Tinker Bell in her different hats and listening to Walt Disney talk about whatever the subject was for that episode.  Later she loved seeing (again when she could)

Walt Disney talk about building Disneyland!

Disneyland became her dream location, and during the summer between her junior and senior years of high school she made her dream become a reality!  (Please insert "You Can Fly" or maybe "When You Wish Upon A Star" here, you pick, either would work.)  Using her winnings from showing animals in 4H shows, she went on a trip with the Future Homemakers of America to the National Convention in California. This is already a long post so we will jump to the best day of her trip, their day at Disneyland!  Mom talks about it like walking into the Emerald City.  I can picture her crying at the sight of the castle, seeing Small World, and getting to ride things she had only dreamed of doing.  She still has what's left of her ticket book, the A Tickets were used of course.  From then on she was hooked and the rest is history!

As you can see I have a very solid case as to why I blame my mother 😂.  I love all things Disney and thanks to my mother, we (practically my entire family) have gotten to experience so much Disney.  I have been able to experience the magic by going to Walt Disney World in Florida (more times than I can actually count, remember we are not Floridians), Disneyland, Adventures By Disney, Disneyland Paris and Disney Cruise Line.  But my very favorite magical Disney experience is and will always be getting married in at the Walt Disney World Wedding Pavilion (I will write about that later 😁)!  I am a Disney Planner through the Mickey World Travel company, which is great because my husband and I love to talk all things Disney with anyone who will listen.

So that's it, that is the reason it all started!  I thank my mother all the time!  My husband and I love going when we can and now we get to take our son!  Be on the lookout for more Blog posts about our favorite Disney experiences!
